I know I’m excited!  Every vote is important, especially for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

So head to the polls tomorrow, and I’ll be back on Wednesday with some new information on the future of Down the Ticket.

Who is America’s greatest enemy?

Well, according to Wayne Parker’s opponent in Alabama’s 5th Congressional District, it’s not al-Qaeda.

It’s not a resurgent Russia.

It’s not a communist dictator like Hugo Chavez.

It’s not an Iranian regime that denies the Holocaust and wants to wipe Israel off the map.

It’s not OPEC nations hijacking our economy through artificially high oil prices.

No, according to Parker Griffith, America’s greatest enemy is America.

Will Bush stump for Wayne Parker?

Apparently, there are some rumblings to that effect, although neither camp has confirmed it.

Porkbustin’ Wayne Parker

Flashpoint has a good post about the fiscal cancer affecting the GOP and the nation: earmarks.

As the post notes, Wayne Parker, who is running in Alabama’s 5th District, has pledged to support a one-year moratorium on earmarks.

Alabama’s 5th District is Hot!

According to NRCC Chairman Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) it is:

“Alabama will be one of the most important congressional battlegrounds in the country because you really do have opportunities here for each party to try and do something,” said U.S. Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla.

“That’s a real Republican opportunity for us,” Cole said.

“We think the value structure of the district, which is traditionally conservative and strong for defense, is one that a Republican candidate ought to do very well in,” Cole said. “We feel very fortunate to have someone like Wayne in this race. We think he’s going to win this seat,” Cole said.

Alabama’s 5th district is weighted R+6, and George W. Bush took 60% of the vote in 2004. This is one of the GOP’s best opportunities to flip a district from blue to red, and it is good to see the NRCC is taking advatage of it by supporting Wayne Parker.
