New Jersey Update

I’m sure that Richard Merkt is a wonderful man, but I’ve decided to wait until after the New Jersey GOP gubernatorial primary to endorse a candidate there.

Now is not the time for depression

A few thoughts:

1) We may have lost the presidency, but we can’t lose hope.  Not now, or ever.

2) Congratulations to Pete Olson and Jason Chaffetz for their outstanding victories last night.

3) With this election cycle over, Down the Ticket will now look to the gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey.

4) For the 2010 election cycle, Down the Ticket will narrow its focus to around 5-6 races.  As you may have noticed, having a 12 hour a day job and contributing to another blog on top of this one burnt me out a bit.  One man following 20+ candidates is a bit much.

Remember, Obama may have won last night, but we can still fight.  Keep the faith.

REMEMBER TO VOTE NOVEMBER 4

I know I’m excited!  Every vote is important, especially for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

So head to the polls tomorrow, and I’ll be back on Wednesday with some new information on the future of Down the Ticket.

Home from vacation!

I know, I know, I missed you, too! Ha.

Morning flight with one of the neediest passengers ever to fly commercial air? Check.

Mini-nap? Check

10-hour, 4:30pm to 2:30am shift at work followed by an 8am-8pm shift on Wednesday? Ughhhh……Definitely not check.

Sorry for being MIA over the weekend

Some unexpected things have come up and I haven’t had time to go through my news stack.

And, if you’re like me, you’re caught up in the Obama-Biden news.

TalkStraight.org

I am involved with a new site, launched today, that aims to expose the half-truths and full on lies of the Obama campaign, as well as defend John McCain from unfair attacks.

It’s called TalkStraight.org.  Go check it out, and tell a friend or two!

Down the Ticket is on Twitter

I’m finally getting the hang of this “Internet” thing all the other 20-something whippersnappers are talking about.

Down the Ticket’s Twitter account twitter(dot)com(backslash)downtheticket.  Feel free to add me and feed me stories.

On Robert Novak

Bob Novak is truly one of the greats, so that makes his health problems and subsequent discontinuation of his column that much more tragic.

I got to see him up close and personal once at one of Americans for Tax Reform’s Wednesday meetings. He was promoting his then new memoir The Prince of Darkness, and was every bit as nice as you’d think he would be (unless you’re a raving Leftist, then he was nicer).

I wish him and his family well.

Upcoming: My conference call with Jeff Beatty

This weekend I had the opportunity to speak to senatorial candidate Jeff Beatty.  I’ll try to type up the info tonight.

In the meantime, why not send him a donation?

A reminder that we need solid conservatives in the House

The House GOP has finally gotten their act together and have taken over the House floor in defiance of Nancy Pelosi.

This is the kind of fighting spirit that America wants in her elected officials right now. Help us elect more House members who are unafraid to defy Speaker Pelosi and stand up for the American people’s needs.

There are plenty of great candidates in the blogroll. Visit their sites and if you are able to volunteer or donate, please do so!

“The Stepford Democrats”

I’d like to thank all of you for giving me suggestions on candidates! I’ve added some of them to the list, and hope to post on as often as possible.

In the meantime, Ladies Logic has a great post up on what the author has termed “The Stepford Democrats.” She notes how universally shared the talking points are for several of the Dem House candidates, including Bennion Spencer, who is running against one of our sponsored candidates, Jason Chaffetz, in Utah’s 3rd District.

You can donate to Jason Chaffetz by clicking here!

Welcome to Down the Ticket!

This site was started in July 2008 to promote conservative candidates in Congressional elections across the United States. This site believes that even if you are disappointed with the current GOP leadership, there are still many principled conservative candidates worthy of support. If you know of a conservative candidate this blog should support, please leave a comment or shoot us an e-mail at downtheticket (at) gmail (dot) com.
